How Can I Tell If Baked Chicken Thighs Are Done

Oven Baked Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs

Theres nothing worse than undercooked chicken. Luckily, baked chicken thighs and wings are among the easiest things to make at home, and theyre one of the most forgiving meats you can cook. How do you know when theyre done? A few easy, telltale signs will let you know your chicken is cooked properly.

The color of the meat should be white throughout, with no pink or red spots. The juices should run clear. If you cut into a thigh or wing and notice any pinkness on the inside, continue baking for another five minutes and then check again.

If your chicken is browned on the outside but still pink on the inside, its safe to put it under the broiler for a few minutes to help finish cooking while still keeping it juicy.

Test if its done by piercing the thickest part of the thigh with a skewer or fork if the juices run clear and there is no redness, its ready. If there is still some pinkness inside after all this, dont worry!

As long as there arent harmful bacteria present in the meat , you can eat it without harmit may just not taste as good.

However, you can go even further by using a wire rack so any extra fat from the chicken drains from the rack onto the baking sheet. You can employ this method with either boneless or bone-in chicken thighs.

High Heat Equals Browned And Juicy Chicken Thighs

I always recommend high heat for chicken, whether youre cooking it in the slow cooker or in the oven. If your oven temperature is too low, like in the 350-400 degree F range, your chicken is going to overcook and dry out before it is brown.

At 425 degrees F, the boneless chicken thighs are browned, tender and juicy in less than 30 minutes.
