How To Cook Pork Chops In The Oven

With no brining or marinating needed, youll be thanking me later while licking your plates clean after eating these baked pork chops.

First thing to do is to move oven shelf to about 8-inches/20cm from the top heat element before preheating. This gets you ready for broiling later. Then, youre going to mix up your bbq sauce marinade. We use Masterfoods Bbq sauce, but you can use Hunts Original or Sweet Baby Rays.

Season your chops with seasoning salt, cracked black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika. If you dont have any of those, substitute with regular salt or sea salt and regular pepper.

Seasoning pork chops first creates the first layer of flavour.

Slather some of the sauce ALL OVER your chops, including the sides. Use only two-thirds of the sauce to give you plenty to baste with later. Bake for 15 minutes in your hot, preheated oven. Then flip your chops baste with the remaining marinade and broil/grill for just over 7 minutes to start the caramelization process.

Flip once more, baste with those delicious pan juices and broil for a couple more minutes until chops are cooked through and deliciously caramelised all over. This is important step if you want golden baked pork chops. The other alternative will give you no colour or crispy edges.

These BBQ pork chops can be made 2 different ways: baked or broiled.

Theres not a big difference in the end result. I usually broil mine since Im too impatient to wait for the oven to heat up.

Neither oven baked pork chops nor broiled pork chops will get quite the color compared to searing them on the stove or a grill, but thats okay! Theyll still be juicy and delicious.

Why Do A Spice Rub And A Bbq Glaze

I discovered this after watching countless cooking shows. Rubs are where its at. Everyone uses them to deliver intense flavor to the meat. I know typically that after applying a rub the meat is left to rest for a day or even 2. But I found that even IF I just give them meat a couple of minutes to rest while I get the pan heated I can pack a LOT of flavor into these chops.

When you top it with your favorite bbq sauce its like gilding the lily. Youre adding something you know you love on top of a delicious base. The two parts work together really well. I use it in my Air Fryer BBQ Pork Chops, Oven BBQ Chicken and my Air Fryer Chicken Thighs.

What Ingredients Are In These Bbq Baked Pork Chops

PORK CHOPS: When I make this I like to use boneless pork chops but you can use bone-in. This recipe uses 4 pork chops that are 7-8 ounces.

SPICES: These pork chops are rubbed with a spice mixture of paprika and garlic powder before adding the BBQ sauce on them.

If you have a BBQ rub on hand you can use that instead to rub on both sides of the pork chops. This helps create that extra layer of flavor.

BBQ SAUCE: I like to make a homemade BBQ sauce when I make these pork chops. If you have a favorite store-bought BBQ sauce you can use that to make this recipe even easier.

Only A Few Ingredients Are Needed To Make The Pork Chops:

    • Bone-in Pork Chops: Make sure to get the pork chops with the bone. The bone adds the extra element of flavor.
    • Olive oil: Sometimes pork chops can become dry when baked in the oven therefore, you want to dredge them with olive oil before placing them in the oven to make sure they are extra tender.
    • Seasoning: Seasoned salt, garlic salt, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and black pepper is needed for this recipe. These pork chops will not be spicy however, if you are heat sensitive, you may want to eliminate or just use a sprinkle of the cayenne and/or black pepper.
    • Mesquite smoked barbecue sauce: We recommend using this flavor for your pork chops, but your favorite sauce flavor and brand will do. We used Kraft barbecue sauce for this recipe.

And although its not listed in the ingredients, liquid smoke is also a great ingredient to add if you want a little extra grill smoke flavor.

How Do You Make Pork Taste Better

There are a few different ways to make pork taste better, but the most important thing is to focus on creating a consistent flavor throughout the dish. Here are three ways to do this:

    1) Use fresh, natural herbs and spices: This is the simplest way to improve the flavor of your pork. Start by chopping up some fresh herbs, knowing that they will give the pork its characteristic flavoring. The next step is to mix them into your cooked pork. This will help to create a more unified flavor, and it will also help keep the pork from getting dry or rubbery.

    2) Use cooking methods that dont rely on butter or oil: When cooking with any type of meat, its important to use effective cooking methods that dont rely on butter or oil.
