What Happens If You Cook An Egg In The Oven

Oven Baked Hard Boiled Eggs

Cooking an egg in the oven can result in a number of different problems. One is that the egg may cook on the outside while the inside is still cold, which can make it difficult to try to break it into small pieces. Another problem is that cooking an egg in the oven can cause it to develop a bad odor.

Can You Boil Eggs In The Microwave

Ive seen lots of advice on boiling eggs in the microwave from not doing it at all to poking a hole in the bottom of each egg with a thumbtack before boiling to prevent eggs exploding. I have never poked a hole in the bottom of the eggs, but I use salt in the water. I havent had an egg explosion yet.

Its very important you either add the salt OR you poke holes. Otherwise, there is a very real chance your eggs could explode. Wet egg and shell splattered all over the microwave does not sound fun at all to clean up.

I tend to like medium boiled eggs where the yolk is not completely firm but also not runny. They are perfect for breakfast. Its almost like eating fried eggs. I love them sliced up and put on top of a couple slices of sourdough toast.

However, if you want to make some tuna salad or egg salad or chop a boiled egg in just a regular green salad, I recommend boiling your eggs until they are hard boiled with firm yolks.

Can You Really Make Hard

The short answer is YES! Definitely and I HIGHLY recommend it!

Its almost Easter and that means its time to boil LOT of Easter eggs for dying, hiding and deviling! Even if it wasnt Easter, my kids love hard boiled eggs, but I hate the smell that it creates.

PLUS, boiling eggs can be such a pain! I always end up breaking a few by accidentally breaking them when I add them to the pot especially when Im making such huge batches. Well it just got easier!

I Placed My Egg Dish Into A Larger Glass Pan For Baking

To ensure the eggs cooked evenly, I placed the loaf pan with the eggs into a larger glass baking pan. I then filled the larger dish with water up to the level of the eggs.

The instructions in the TikTok said to bake the eggs for 30 minutes. But perhaps because I used a glass pan, which takes longer to heat up in the oven, mine needed more time.

I ended up baking my eggs for a little under an hour until the yolks were completely cooked through.

How To Hard Boil Eggs In The Oven

My guess is that youll be like me and never actually boil hard boiled eggs again after you try it this way. The very best part about it, is that you can simply place them in the oven and not have to worry about it.

Another thing I love about this method, is that the eggs dont burst open like they often do in hot boiling water.

There is virtually no prep time with this, just grab your eggs and a muffin pan. You could, in theory, use any baking dish but the muffin pan works perfectly to keep the eggs separate and not roll around.

Place one egg in each of the muffin tin slots and place into a 325 degree preheated oven. Thats it!

Youll bake somewhere between 20-30 minutes, depending on the doneness you prefer. I like a very hard boiled egg so I go the full half an hour. If you like a more soft boiled egg, you can take a few minutes off the baking time.

Here is a guide for you to save.
