Frigidaire Oven Not Heating – How to Troubleshoot

An oven that wont heat is usually the result of a faulty igniter or heating element . You may be able to replace the heating element or igniter yourself:

  • Make sure to turn off the power to your oven before servicing it.

  • Use a screwdriver to remove the old igniter or heating element. Heating elements and the igniter are usually located inside the oven.

  • To get to your igniter, remove the broiler or storage drawer.

  • If your heating element is hidden, you may need to call a repair person to replace it for you.

  • A gas oven not workingplus faulty gas burnersindicates that the problem is most likely the gas line. Gas oven repair for a defective gas line usually requires the skill of a trained professional.

    Frigidaire Oven Not Self

Self-cleaning can be quite helpful when it comes to removing tough stains and odors from your oven.

However, once it stops working, keeping your oven clean can get challenging.

So, refer to the solutions below to bring self-cleaning back into action.

    Possible Solution:

    • Self-cleaning features are designed to only work when the oven has cooled down.
    • Try using the self-cleaning feature once the oven has cooled if you havent been doing so.
    • However, if the oven doesnt clean even while its cool, there may be an issue with the oven door latch. Call in a professional to fix the door latch.

How Long Does A Frigidaire Oven Last

On average, you can expect your electric oven to last 13 years, these days, and your gas oven to last 15. But, like anything else, the more you use it, the quicker it will wear out. Daily use for a family of five will wear an oven out faster than just heating up a frozen pizza a couple of times a month.

The Oven Wont Heat To The Right Temperature

An oven not heating evenly could indicate a problem with the temperature sensor or the heating element. Follow these steps to check the temperature sensor:

  • Make sure that the sensor is not touching the inside wall of the oven.

  • Use an ohmmeter to ensure the sensor is functional. The resistance should rise as the temperature of the oven increases. If the ohmmeter shows that the sensor is not working, replace it.

  • If your gas oven is still not heating after checking or replacing the temperature sensor, you may have a problem with the gas igniter. If thats the case, follow the steps in The Oven is Not Heating.

  • Once everything has been checked or replaced, recalibrate the oven.

  • Heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Check the temperature inside the oven with an oven thermometer after 20 minutes. Continue checking the temperature every 20 minutes for the next 90 minutes to two hours.

  • Add up the sum of the temperature readings and divide by the number of readings you took to get the average temperature of the oven.

  • Adjust the ovens temperature dial accordingly.

  • Frigidaire Oven Taking Too Long To Heat Up

Frigidaire Gas Wall Oven Not Heating Up

A common problem mainly with old Frigidaire ovens is they can take too long to heat up.

Slow heating of an electric oven can also indicate a variety of issues with the appliance.

One of the most likely causes is a leak of hot air from the oven.

    Possible Solution:

Damaged oven door seal: The seal is attached to the oven door and ensures that when the door is closed, it forms an airtight seal.

This allows the oven to trap all of its hot air. When the seal is damaged, hot air escapes, and the healing process is delayed.

Oven door hinges that are damaged: Hinges allow the door to open and close easily while remaining perfectly aligned with the rest of the appliance.

When they become bent or broken, the door is unable to close securely, preventing the oven from trapping heat inside.

As a result, hot air escapes and the oven takes an inordinate amount of time to reach cooking temperatures.

If you have found the Frigidaire oven to be properly sealed, then its likely to be a result of a power supply issue, faulty main control board, or heating element being worn out.

If thats the case best to call out a repair person to check it out.

Problem: It’s Not Heating To The Correct Temperature

If you notice food taking longer to cook than it should or coming out of the oven undercooked, your oven might not be reaching the desired temperature. There are a few different reasons this might happen.

Cause: If the temperature sensor inside the oven is not working as intended, it can cause the oven to not heat to the correct temperature. This can be caused by a faulty temperature sensor or a temperature sensor that is touching the wall of the oven.

Fix: Make sure the temperature sensor is not touching the inside wall, as this will affect its ability to accurately measure the internal temperature of the oven. If it is, reposition it so that it’s not making contact with the wall. If it’s still not heating correctly, you can use an ohmmeter to test that the sensor is working. The resistance of the sensor should rise with the internal temperature of the oven. Like with a heating element or gas igniter, replacing the temperature sensor is a quick and easy fix you can do yourself.

Cause: If it’s still not heating to the correct temperature and you’ve checked or replaced the heating elements, gas igniter and temperature sensor, it may simply need to be calibrated.

    Frigidaire Oven Light Stays Off

The oven light is an incredibly useful tool to ensure your food is cooked properly.

However, at times, you will notice your ovens light remaining off while its running.

If thats the case, try following the solutions below to fix the issue.

    Possible Solution:

    • Its possible the light bulb has blown out. To test it, take out the bulb and try turning it on in another socket. If the bulb doesnt turn on, replace it to fix your oven.
    • If the bulb appears to be working as expected in another socket, the ovens socket may be faulty.
    • Use a multimeter to test if the current is passing through the socket wires.

Frigidaire Oven Not Heating Up – How to Replace the Control Board

Model Number: PLEFMZ99ECFBrand: FrigidaireAge: 6-10 yearsThe oven on my Frigidare stove won’t heat. The top elements all work fine and the lower ” bake-n-warm” oven works fine. All the digital displays appear to be working and intact. We’ve completely unplugged it to make sure no reset was needed. If I turn the oven to the convection setting the fan will turn on but the coils won’t heat up. We have pulled them out and inspected for any breaks or damage, tested them with a multimeter and inspected the wires for any burn out or damage. All looks well. We have never used the clean function, I can’t imagine that being the cause. It worked great the night before to bake a loaf of bread them the next night nothing. Can anyone help? Thanks in advanced for your input!

It sounds to me like you are having a control board problem. There are multiple control boards on your range, one for the burners, one for the lower mini oven, and one for the main oven. If the clock/timer control board is receiving proper power, both of the elements are good, and it’s not sending power to the bake/broil elements, then the control board is bad and will need to be replaced. One note on the clock control board is that it doesn’t include the black faceplate . If the overlay won’t peal off the old one in one piece than you will need to order that separately. Let me know how the repair goes for you. Here are the parts for your range:

Never attempt to repair or diagnose your homes gas lines on your own. Instead, we strongly recommend that you contact a certified gas fitter or appliance technician to help you diagnose and resolve the issue.

At the same time, if you suspect you have a gas leak, turn off the gas and contact a professional immediately.

If the pilot light in your Frigidaire oven isnt working, it may be because the gas hasnt been turned on. Make sure there is gas available and it is turned on. The Oven Safety Valve

Your gas oven is equipped with a safety valve. The valve ensures gas is not released into your oven until the oven igniter is hot enough to ignite the gas. A malfunctioning safety valve will prevent gas from entering your oven even after the oven igniter is glowing white-hot. If you believe the valve is behind your non-heating issue, we suggest using a multimeter to test the part for continuity. If there is no continuity, the part will need to be replaced.
