The Thermal Fuse Has Blown
Your oven has a defensive mechanism that prevents it from overheating. If the thermal fuse senses that your oven is overheating, it will trip, causing the oven to turn off. If the thermal fuse has already blown, then the oven is not going to turn on because it will sense there is no safety measure in place.
Another reason why your oven might not be turning on is that the thermal fuse is tripping when it should not. In this case, the thermal fuse has gotten a bit overzealous, preventing the upper from turning on before you even start cooking. This is another potential issue with the thermal fuse that you need to address.
Regardless, you should take a look at the thermal fuse using a multimeter. If you find that a thermal fuse does not have any power going to it, then it is not working properly. As a result, you will need to replace it.
You should take a look at the manual to see what type of thermal fuse you need. That way, you can get the best one for your oven.
Check If The Igniter Is Working
If you have a gas oven, you need to check if the igniter is working. If you have an electric oven, proceed to step 5. The igniter is the little component that ignites the gas so your oven can heat up. If the igniter stops working, your Samsung oven wont heat.
To check the igniter, you need to:

The Gas Burner Doesnt Light
The great thing about a gas stove is that, even if the electrical ignition isnt working properly, you can still light the burner. If the burners dont light at all and you cant find an immediate problem to pin it on, there are a couple of things that you can do to troubleshoot the issue.
1. Lift the grate. First, lift off the burner grate, the cap, and the base. Make sure that you clean away any debris or food chunks that may be causing a jam you can use a toothpick or some compressed air if you have some available.
2. Clean thoroughly. While youre at it, clean out the pieces that you removed, too.
3. Check the wiring. Finally, check the wires that connect your igniter to the control module. More often than not, the reason for no ignition is due to a faulty or loose connection. If it still wont light, the igniter will likely need to be replaced. If the igniter is fine, it could be due to a kink in the gas line which would require a call to your local professional.
Make Sure Your Oven Works Properly
In the end, you should make sure your oven is working properly. To reduce the chances of developing problems, you may want to get your oven inspected periodically to ensure everything is behaving as it should.
If you do need to replace a part in your oven, you should take a look at the price of the part and compare it to the price of the oven. You may be better off replacing the oven entirely.

Failure Of A Safety Valve
A gas ovens safety valve works with the igniter to provide gas to the burner, so if you smell gas and notice indicators of a possible leak, shut off the main supply valve.
If the safety valve fails, it will not release gas directly into the air instead, it will prevent harmful amounts of gas from heating up inside your oven and producing deadly levels of carbon monoxide inside your kitchen.
Before replacing the safety valve, first test all of the other components that are known to go wrong with your ovens, including even simply looking at them for unusual damage or wear.
If all heating components are working properly apart from the safety valve then use a multimeter on continuity to test whether it is correctly allowing gas through and replace if it is faulty.
The Oven Controls Are Not Set Correctly
For GE ovens with bake and broil options, the oven has to be instructed on what to do by setting the desired oven function.
If your wall oven or range has electronic controls, you should ensure that the oven function and temperature are correctly selected, and the Start button pressed. If you dont do this, the oven wont turn on.

A gas oven not workingplus faulty gas burnersindicates that the problem is most likely the gas line. Gas oven repair for a defective gas line usually requires the skill of a trained professional.
What If The Oven Door Wont Shut
From time to time, you may notice that the oven door wont shut. Though this can appear to be a minor inconvenience, it can actually be unsafe to use the stove until the issue has been resolved in a satisfactory manner.
1. Turn off the gas. Start by turning off the gas and unplugging the oven entirely.
2. Take off the door. To remove the door entirely, pull straight up and then out. If it doesnt pull up, you may have to unscrew any screws that may be holding the hinges inside of the oven in place.
3. Check for damage and replace. Replace the hinges if necessary and then check for damaged or broken door springs. You can slide out the ovens bottom drawer and check, removing any broken springs using pliers. The ends will be wrapped around 2 bolts replace them and then rewrap the ends of your springs around your new bolts.
You may also want to check the rubber or silicone gasket that is located under the door. If, after all of that, the door still wont shut properly, your door sensor will likely need replacing.

Pull straight up and out on the door to remove it from the oven. If it doesnt pull up, unscrew any screws holding the hinges in place inside the oven.
Check the hinges. Replace them if necessary.
Check for broken door springs. Slide out the bottom drawer and look under the oven to see the door springs.
Remove any broken springs with pliers. The ends should be wrapped around two bolts. Replace them, rewrapping the ends of the new springs around the bolts.
Problem: There’s A Loose Connection
While there aren’t a ton of moving parts on a stovetop, it is possible for connections to come loose, particularly during cleaning or installation. If the wires which connect the igniter to the control module aren’t making a solid connection, you won’t get the spark needed to properly ignite the burner.
The fix: First, kill power to the appliance by unplugging it from the wall or flipping the breaker switch. Remove the grate and burner cap from the problematic burner. Remove the sealed burner base and look for loose connections or disconnected wires. Secure any loose connections and reconnect any disconnected wires, reinstall the burner base, cap and grate. Restore power to the stove and test the connection.

How To Fix A Gas Oven That Wont Light
The kitchen is the heart of the home. Its where families share dinner, gather together and pass down recipes. One of the worst things that can happen when preparing to cook an amazing meal for your family is to find out that your gas oven wont light. Do you call a repairman or resort to the microwave?
A handy homeowner can troubleshoot the problem when a gas oven doesnt light. A handful of common problems can plague gas ovens. Many are as simple as a loose connection, while others involve replacing important components. However, those simple repairs are less likely to cost you an arm and a leg. Before worrying about replacing your oven, see if one of these common issues is the cause of your oven problems.

Weak Or Broken Igniter
Aside from a damaged heating element, a faulty igniter is another common culprit for a gas oven that wont switch on. An igniter works by drawing electric current through the safety valve, which turns on the oven. After obtaining the right oven temperature, the igniter will turn hot, emit a glow, and ignite the gas.
If the igniter has gone bad, it wont be able to turn on the safety valve, preventing the oven from heating properly. For example, you may notice the igniter glowing for more than a minute without igniting the gas flame a sign that it is not strong enough to open the gas valve and may need to be replaced. If the igniter wont even glow or spark, we recommend testing it for continuity using a multimeter.
Other Less Common Causes
The Thermal Fuse: Some electric ovens are fitted with a thermal fuse. If the oven has overheated, the thermal fuse may have blown and disabled the power to the oven. The thermal fuse can be tested with a multimeter to see if it needs replacing.
The Thermostat: The thermostat monitors the temperature in the oven and will increase the heat when the temperature gets too low. If the thermostat has failed, the oven will not turn on. Unfortunately, it is difficult to test the thermostat, so it is best to just replace it if you suspect the thermostat is defective.
The Electronic Control Board: The ovens control board has relays that send voltage to the bake and broil circuits on an electric oven and the safety valve on a gas oven. If the control board is defective, the oven will likely not turn on. The control board can be inspected for burnt, shorted, or damaged wires. If you determine the control board to be defective, replace the control board.

Replace The Igniter Wiring Harness
If only one burner wont light because its not getting a spark when you turn the control knob, but the others do receive sparks and ignite properly, you may need to replace the igniter wiring harness.
Parts of the igniter harness can short out if liquid boils over and spills out onto it, or the turning shaft that lines up with the burner valve can get stripped over time and prevent it from turning properly.
To replace the igniter wiring harness, shut the gas, unplug the stove, and remove the burner grates and burners. Then, remove the oven control knobs and, using a nut driver, unscrew the bolts holding the metal stovetop, but leave it in place for now.
Open the oven door and look underneath the front panel, locating the screws holding in the front panel. Once you remove the front panel, remove the screws going into the top panel, so it can come completely free.
Lift the top panel off and set it aside. Pull the oven forward from the wall and remove its back panel with a nut driver.
The igniter harness is now fully exposed. Youll see that there are two wires one running to the back of the oven, and another connected at the front of the oven to the spark module terminal. Unclip the back wire from the plastic clip, and, using a flathead screwdriver, free the other wire from the spark module terminal.
Ge Oven Has Power Issues
The most obvious reason a GE oven wont work or turn on is that it isnt receiving power. This could happen for several reasons:
- The socket switch isnt turned on.
- The oven power cable is loose.
- The power cord is damaged.
- The fuse is dead, or the circuit breaker tripped.
- The wall outlet is dead.
- The electrical supply is insufficient.
- Theres no gas supply .

Is The Igniter Working
If your gas oven is not turning on, it is most likely because of a fault with the igniter. When the igniter draws a specific amount of electrical current through the ovens safety valve, the valve opens and allows gas to flow into the oven burner. The igniter can then get hot enough to ignite the gas in the burner assembly. A weak igniter will fail to open the safety valve correctly, and the oven will not heat.

Checking And Fixing The Problem
1. Check functionality. Using an ohmmeter, check to ensure that the sensor is fully functional. The resistance should rise as the ovens temperature increases. If the sensor doesnt work, replace it immediately.
2. Check the igniter and heating element. Should the temperature sensor not be the obvious problem, check to verify that both the gas igniter and the heating element are working properly. Check their continuity using your ohmmeter and replace either component if it is not working correctly.
3. Recalibration. In the event that everything has been checked completely or replaced, you may need to recalibrate the oven. Heat it to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and then check the internal temperature of the oven when 20 minutes has passed. Continue to check every 20 minutes for 90-120 minutes.
Add up the total of your temperature readings and then divide that number by the total number of readings taken. So, if you take 5 temperatures and come to a cumulative total of 1,400 degrees, your adjusted total would be 280 degrees. You can then adjust your oven temperature using the dial accordingly.
