Disconnect The Heating Element

Carefully disconnect each spade wire connector from the heating element. You may be able to pull them off with your fingers, or you can use needle-nose pliers. Pull only on the metal connector never pull on the wire itself, or you risk damaging it or separating it from its connector.

Make sure each wire cannot slip back into the oven housing before releasing your hold on it. If necessary, temporarily tape the wires to the oven wall with electrical tape or masking tape.

If you pulled out the range to unplug it, push the range into position and ensure that the rear leveling foot properly engages with the anti-tip bracket so the range doesnt fall forward when you open the oven door and pull out a loaded oven rack.

Check The New Element

Now its time to check your work. Plug in the cord in the electric socket and press the power button. You can place a glass of water inside the oven and inspect whether the oven is heating the water or not.

How To Replace A Hidden Bake Element In Your Oven

In most ovens, the elements are both exposed and visible. Both the top and bottom elements can clearly be seen if you peer into the oven. You can see them glow and judge how well theyre working based on the glow. But not all ovens are built like this. With some ovens, the bake element is hidden. The heat still disperses evenly but the element itself is hidden beneath the bottom plate of the oven. You may have a hidden broil element as well, but this is even less common. A hidden bake element is considered a cleaner, more attractive design for an oven but its not impossible to work with. If your baking results have shown that the bake element is not working correctly, you may need to tackle a hidden element replacement. You can tell if your casseroles and cakes bake unevenly or if there seems to no heat coming from the lower element at all.
