My Gas Oven Wont Turn On But The Stove Works

Samsung Range – Not heating – No bake or Broil – Diagnostic & Repair

If your gas oven wont turn on but the stove still works, youre in the right place.

Thankfully, most of the time this problem is caused by either a problem with your power, the gas, the gas igniter, the burners, or in rare cases the temperature control thermostat.

In this article, we will give you step-by-step instructions for how to find the cause of the problem and fix it so that you can get back to using your oven again.

Lets get into it.

Causes Of A Samsung Oven Not Heating Up Properly

Unfortunately, oven heating problems are usually discovered only after a meal emerges uncooked. Why wont my Samsung oven heat up as usual? The door may have been left open too long, enabling the ovens automatic shut-off feature. Make sure the oven door is closed completely after opening it. Learn more reasons for a Samsung oven not heating properly to quickly solve the problem.

Malfunction Of The Broiler Element

When the broil element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often if the broil element has burned out, it will be damaged and appear as such.

Inspect the broil element for holes or blisters to check whether or not it was just damaged as well as use a multimeter to test for continuity.

If the broil element does not have continuity after replacing it, you might need to replace your ovens thermostat.

    Samsung Bake Element Burned Out

Samsung Range / Oven – Not heating in oven – Diagnostic & Repair

In electric ovens, a burned out bake element is the most common cause when you find your Samsung oven temperature not accurate. This metal coil at the bottom of the oven provides most of the heat for baking and roasting. It does so through wires inside its metal coil that create heat when they receive electrical current.

Heres how you know the bake element is burned out and requires professional replacement:

    • Visible damage: Includes holes, blistering or an uneven red glow. Damage to the bake element is one of the most common self-cleaning oven dangers.
    • Oven not getting hot enough: The oven may not reach the set temperature if the bake element cant provide heat, leaving food undercooked on the bottom.

  • Make sure the gas and power are turned off.
  • Locate the safety valve and test it with your multimeter for continuity.
  • If the valve fails the test, replace it. If fine, move on to the next step.
  • Once youve installed the new valve, attempt to turn your Samsung oven on. If it still doesnt heat, move on to the next step.

    Bake Or Broil Spark Electrode

The spark-igniting electrode is the ignition system for an oven burner. It sits right behind the burner and contains a small amount of aluminum, copper, or silver as its core. When electrical current is applied to the spark igniter, the metal heats up and breaks down into its elements . This energy heats the ceramic insulator around it, then ignites the gas escaping from the larger metering hole.

If your oven isnt sparking, there are a few issues you should check for. The spark electrode can become broken or damaged, preventing a spark from occurring. Visually inspect the electrode assembly for cracks in the porcelain housing or damage to the electrode tip itself. If you do notice damage, it may be necessary to replace the spark electrode assembly entirely.
